Goodbye my grandma!
To say good-bye is always hard, but I am learning to give it a hug. I did it to my grandma (95). She returned into her Father's arms last sunday (10:00 pm, July 18, 2010, Paraguay time). As you see her lovely smile in the picture (2007), she was a sweet and warm-hearted person. Over 4 decades of my life, she was a great teacher for me to not give up but give a try and step forward in the Lord's path. She encouraged me wordlessly to follow him all the way to the end. For sometime she was hope to me, and later she taught me to deposit my hope in the Lord.
She was like a mom, but a special one, to me. She was an example to follow to embrace and forgive the world. I was very much hateful to the world, and at some point to God for having taken away my dad and mom from me at early age. My father passed away when I was 3, and leaving no sibling at all for me. My mom, still alive, remarried, right after the death of my father, leaving me behind under the care of my grandparents. I wasn't sure what was going on, so wondered off for a long time. It took me sometime to see the hands of God in this midst. God has been good all the days of my life. I am sure He was the same in her's. A proof of it is that my grandma was an angel of God. In her He had been always with me and on my side at times of uncertainty. Thanks, my grandma, my true mom.
A month ago, I was able to speak to her over skype. She hardly recognized me (due to alzheimer her mind was on and off) for a few brief seconds as I told her, "Grandma, You are the most beautiful person to me." She cried at recognizing my voice (the only son of her first son, who was buried within her heart). I cried, too, but gave thanks to God. That was the last conversation I had with her. Grandma, you finally joined your son and your husband. Have a lot of fun up there.
Grandma, I loved you, and will love you forever.
Rest now in the peaceful arms of the Lord.
We will see you there too.
Thanks for leaving a sweet smile in us.
