2005 July Prayer

Shalom! July is the month of graduation. As usual, graduates are busy arranging “padrinos” or “madrinas” for their graduation walk to get the diploma. We are asked again this year to be their padrino and madrina. However, we had to turn down some requests due to schedule conflict.

Naomi has finished the school year as well. At her school commencement, she was awarded first place in her class. We thank God for her effort to achieve this award. We also thank God for Nathan’ and Nahum’s progress on phonics. Nathan, by pronouncing every word sounds, can read without help. He does very well on math, too. We are certain where their wisdom come from. From above!

Praises
Elaine’s brother Keith gave a testimony at JAMA conference in Dallas, TX. (5000 attendees).

Thank God for the decision that Chol presbytery has made to give birth to another presbytery in 6 months. It will surely impact the same presbytery (-ies) for greater growth.

Elaine’s preaching at the Elim church went well. We had a moment of blessing all the fathers of our families. Many of us rejoiced the moment with tears.

Please pray for the following ministry items

Since our home service begins from the end of this year, we plan to put our three little children to schools in the US. Thus, Elaine with them will leave to Los Angeles on Aug 2. In addition, we will have new assignment from the next term, which requires us moving out to another state in Mexico. This time we are to serve Central Mexico area. Our 5 yr ministry commitment for Chol people has officially terminated (actually it will in Dec. 2005) as it follows by this home service.

July 13-15. Chol presbytery will have its bi-annual meeting. Pastor Moises Colop (from Guatemala, CRWRC) will join the meeting to anounce renewal of ministry relationship with this presbytery. The presbytery is also planning a farewell service & party for us. It was set during this event since it would be our last assistance to their official meeting.

July 18-22 AMICH study week has come again (San Cristobal de las Casas, Chis.). Pastor Pedro and Elder Cesario (possibly Efren, too) will take the course on Luke's missions (Prof. Charles Van Engen). Pray for their safe trip (4 hour mountain-curvy-driving distance) and divine inspiration as they learn new stuff on God’s missions.

Reformed Bible Institute of Chiapas(RBIC): Palenque Center (July 18-22) They will study Pentateuch (Luis), Pastoral counseling (Esdras), and Intro to O.T. (Eusebio). Our two seminarians who are studying in the seminary in Mexico City came back home for vacation. They will impart the study. Pray for them to refresh and be challenged for the upcoming ministry on their way.

July 26-29: The 3rd Youth Camp of RPCM will be held in Ejido Arimatea under the theme of “Christian life.” We will have three speakers: Pastor Pedro (Chol pastor), Efren & Melina (domestic missionaries), and Abe. Each speaker will share his/her way of understanding Christian life with different cultural experience. Pray for God’s guidance in their teachings.

Chol churches accepted our leave at the end of this year. Please, keep pray for their ongoing growth.

Unlike last month, we are saddened at a discouraging news of Luis Sanchez (RBIC grad in 2004) who originally planned to pursue seminary-level education in Ciudad Juarez. He has decided not to go rather join himself to his church’s music ministry. However, we continue to pray for him that God would touch his heart and regain the sense of calling and continue pastoral preparation. He would be a good pastor, if the Lord willing. We will update you about his decision in our next prayer news.

Elaine will conclude her Bible studygroup this month. Surely, she will miss the ladies who have been faithfully attended and studied God’ Word with her for the last 2 years. Please keep pray for Nicolas, Deydri, and Rosvita. May their daily walk be exemplary in both home and church. Pray with us to be kept set our goal of ONE LADY AT A TIME.

July 30: A trip to Mexico City is in schedule. While Elaine and the kids will fly out to LA, Abe is scheduled to teach a course at the RPCM seminary from Aug. 2-12. Pray for him to have passion and wisdom.

Its time to start to say goodbye, but it is heartbreaking. Our friends and ministry colleagues are saddened by our departure. We will continue to pray for those who are in ministry and those who need to come to Christ. May God personally touch their heart to be a part of God’s wonderful family!

Thank you for your endless prayer and ongoing support. God’s blessing!!!

The Pride of Parents

Today we were invited to annual commencement ceremony of Naomi's school. Our daughter, 2nd grade, was rewarded as the best student in academical achievement. Other parents, including us, were surprised by her achievement and effort throughout her school year. We thank God for having such a godly and visionary daughter. By the way, becoming a doctor is her dream, for now.
