Good Samaritan

David Peñate, a member of Elim church in Palenque, Chis. and younger brother of Madai of pastor Constantino, had severe car accident last Father's Day. It was his last day of work-related trip to Jonuta, Tabasco. He had collected some money and was alone on his way back home. Somewhere on the way, he lost control completely and the car rolled over several yards. He was still alive but unconscious. He didn't remember what'd happened. The car got completely destroyed and a couple witnesses were certain of the death of this young father of two girls. However, ignoring whether he was still with life, other neighbors started empty the car: they took the money and some good-looking parts, including wheels.

A moment later, there came an angel of God. The man stopped his VW sedan, called 'bocho' in Mexico. At first, he scold them for interesting materials over human life. He got David out of the crushed car and delivered him nearby clinic. The man didn't loose his chance of presenting the gospel. David told us later that he heard somebody preaching. Anyway, David is gladly back home now sitting up in between pain and God's will beyond the tragedy. Praise God for his Samaritans here in the remote part of the earth.

Depression of Pastor Jose

The Institute received again students this week. Pastor Jose also arrived from his busy pastoral duties. He pastors a church in Tocob village; and he is a member of Presbyterial Evangelism Department plus director of our Bible Institute. He's been working as the director of our Institution since his graduation in 2002. He's been so good at it, however, is now a bit burn out for so much work yet to be done. He told me last Monday that he would withdraw himself from all other responsibilities except the church at his hometown. So please pray for him to be encouraged and soon to be organized a group of 5 teaching staffs sometime in 2006 by pastor Cristobal, elder Cesario, the couple from Chihuahua-Efren and Melina, and elder Eusebio, who will join us next year. We trust in the Lord that it is a God's sure ministry to reachout to the end of Ch'ol country.

Unfortunately, Luis Sanchez, who was so sure to make his way to the seminary in Ciudad Juarez, is also in doubt. Since he has never been outside Chiapas, he seems to be scared of being so far from home. Pastor John Lee has already promised to welcome him up there at the seminary and give a good care of him. We've been praying for this opportunity to help out ONE MORE CHURCH LEADER trained for God's kingdom. Please join us with prayer for him to put everything up to our heavenly Father. May His will be done in his life.

2005 June Prayer

ALOHA... oops, ORALE! Greetings from Palenque, Chiapas!

The Chiapas slash-and-burn farmers, again this year, have their mountains burnt down to convert them into cornfields before the rain comes. The skies are full of smoke and mist, the main reason of traffic accidents. Local newspapers claim almost everyday accidents occurred here and there in our neighbor towns. However, AMEXTRA and Christians are teaching (and learning) fellow countrymen to avoid such method rather to manure/use for self-fertilizer. Some church members have been convinced and enjoyed working a bit harder this year. We do look for transformational ministry teaching Reformed worldview.

ALPREPA enjoyed the Blessings for Parents seminar. Most participants made decision to guard their families raising children up to God’s expectation.

Please pray for the following ministry items

June 1-2. Chol presbytery had two groups for preaching classes. It assigns their elders and evangelists to preach at missions. Many of them struggle everyday studyload to faithfully perform the job. However, no helpful resources are at their reach. Thanks that about 15 preachers participated the study.

Isaias (19, Institute graduate in 2002) is getting married on June 4. He has been cared under his authoritative father with less freedom to go out to preach. We hope that this life event will bring him more opportunity to let his desire to fulfill. Pray for his blessed marriage and Christian ministry thereafter.

The Reformed Bible Institute of Chiapas(RBIC): At Palenque Center (June 12-17) will study hermeneutics and Christian doctrines. And at Tocob Center (June 19-24), Evangelism and Shorter Catechism. Our 6 students at each center have decidedfully turned themselves into tasks of Christian leadership preparation. May they be full with the Word and enjoy their everyday growth.

Eduardo (PTSS seminary student) has completed all requirements at this seminary and is graduating on June 18. Filadelfia church (pastor Pedro Gutierrez) is excited to have another church leader come back to fill leadership need in their church. May they continue to support future leaders.

Efren and Melina (All Nations Seminary grads) are here. Today (June 3) they sat down with Chol evangelism staffs to effectively use their stay supporting them to plant new missions in downtown Palenque. May God bind them together for this churchplanting project with ONE vision and in ONE Spirit.

Chol churches accepted our leave to Cuernavaca at the end of this year (we will do home service for 6 months and come back for new assignment next summer 2006 to the Morelos state). They have concerned a bit for any possible ministry trouble due to our absence; regained, however, peace of mind for Efren and Melinda’s long-term commitment.

Luis Sanchez (Institute grad in 2004) is looking for a supporter for the next two years of seminary education in Ciudad Juarez (U$100 per semester plus personal expenses). He will leave to the Chihuahua state in early days of August 2005. We’d like to offer you this perfect opportunity to serve one more future leader among the Chol people; another way to reach the world with God’s goodness (ONE LEADER AT A TIME). Feel free to contact us CLICK.

Elaine’s women leadership class has almost reached its end. Continue to pray for Nicolasa, Deydri, and Rosvita. They will contribute to the Kingdom of God by way of reaching out ONE LADY AT A TIME.

Thank you for your sincere and endless prayer and support for Chiapas ministry. Your prayer have made a lot different our Chol churches.
